Prams & Strollers - Now You're Moving!

Baby Prams / Baby Strollers

Congratulations, you're expecting! Now let the shopping begin. Cribs & bassinets, sleepers & onesies, prams & strollers, the list of baby stuff is daunting and seemingly endless. Over the years, literally thousands of new products have been introduced that aim to make child rearing easier. Some of them are fantastic, and some of them are more clutter than good. One thing you can always count on needing though is a good stroller. Unless you intend to spend every waking moment with your new child locked within the confines of your home, you will need and use a good, reliable stroller to take your precious child with you anytime that there is significant walking involved.

Not all prams & strollers are created equal though. Different ones are ideal for different stages of your child's baby and toddlerhood. Prams or baby carriages usually are ideal for newborns. Generally they have the infant laying down flat and facing the person pushing the carriage. This is reassuring for a new parent, as you can constantly see your baby and Reassure yourself that they are sleeping, comfortable and safe. As your child gets older, you may find that your child no longer enjoys lying down and prefers instead to see the world around them from a more upright position.

As your child gets older, you may need to look again at prams & strollers, to find something that is more appropriate for your growing infant. A stroller tends to have the ability to have your child either sit upright or recline and generally has your child facing away from you. This will allow your child to have a safe, comfortable view of the outside world. Many strollers are available as a travel system that incorporates your child's car seat into the stroller, allowing you to leave a sleeping infant in his car seat even when leaving the car and putting him into the stroller. When the two are used together, your stroller is more like a pram in that your infant is facing you.

Wading your way through your choices when it comes to prams & strollers can be a time-consuming endeavor, but it is one that is well worth the effort. Strollers can be one of the more expensive pieces of baby equipment that you purchase. However, the right stroller can last you for years and can make your day to day life with your child much simpler. Investing your time in research before you invest your money can save you both in the long run.
